Culture Crawl 2024

I was once again pleased to open my studio in Makerlabs in East Vancouver for a second year to the public over 4 days for the annual Eastside Culture Crawl.

This year the crowds were a little bit slower than we saw in 2023 however this meant I had more time to chat with people about the art and my process when is always the most enjoyable part of Culture Crawl. As per usual, my giant paper map of Vancouver was present, which always invites a lot of response (especially from the under-10 crowd, who can always enthusiasitically spot Science World).

Unfortunately I always get so caught up I end not taking many pictures however I have included a few below including a short video of my space on the day. There are also some additional photos of the pieces that were on display.

During the crawl I also managed to find time to work on a large paper version of Pacific Central station to demonstrate further to visitors how I combine machine and hand cutting techniques to create my works - unfortunately this is not finished yet, but evenutally I will have time to catch up on the brickwork and have it ready for display!

A few of my pieces - Peyto Lake and Houses of Lunenberg 1 and 2 - also found new homes with enthusiastic fans of paper art, I hope their new families will enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed creating them.
